Historic Baptist Church

Pastor N. Sebastian Desent was sent from Baptist Tabernacle in Shreveport, LA in 1991 to start Historic Baptist Church in North Kingstown, Rhode Island.  Pastor Desent was sent with a three-fold responsibility and charge: SEED, SOWERS, and SENDERS. That is, the church from the start has been involved in scripture production, translation, and distribution (SEED); training preachers through Baptist International School of the Scriptures and Rhode Island Baptist Seminary (SOWERS); and supporting mission and missionaries worldwide (SENDERS).

Pastor Desent was sent in 2023 from HBC as an approved missionary to Peru, and heads Independent Baptist Missions from his church in Peru. 

Historic Baptist Church continues to support Peru Missions.

The Peru Fund is linked directly to Independent Baptist Missions.  Historic Baptist Church encourages other like-minded independent Baptist churches to help fulfill the vision of making Peru a major missionary-sending country.
