Iglesia Bautista El Lindero Antiguo
In English, the church is Landmark Baptist Church, and it is located in Villa El Salvador. Villa El Salvador (VES) is located about 25 miles south of the Lima airport. Once a desert shanty town 45 years ago, it now has a population of a half million. The spirit and work of the Peruvians is remarkable. The motto of VES is: “Because we have nothing, we can do everything.” This has proved true. The commercial Industrial Park is the envy of every country, with an estimated 1,500 factories. There is hardly any space available that is not leased or purchased in days.

The expansion of the population continues and is moving eastward into Pachacamac, the neighboring city, which has pre-Incan history. Pachacamac is the largest archaeologist site in Lima, and runs along the Lurin River, in the Lurin Valley.

In 2023 Pastor Desent took leadership of Iglesia Bautista El Lindero Antiguo (IBELA) and has been used of God to get a church meeting hall with all amenities, a furnished pastoral apartment, and establish regular meetings. IBELA has published many thousands of Spanish scriptures (John/Romans and New Testaments), with a recent run of the New Testament in the Awajun language, and Gospels of John in the Quechua language.
Under the leadership of Pastor Desent, IBELA started a second church in 2023 named the First Baptist Church of Pachacamac. First Baptist is the operations base for Independent Baptist Missions in Peru, and here we operate our mission’s administration, our scripture publishing, and the Baptist International University.
The property in Pachacamac and the First Baptist Church of Pachacamac is our long-term base of operations for the Seed, Sower, and Senders work in Peru. We also have Baptist International University campuses in many other locations in South America.
