The Scripture Work in Peru

In the late 1980’s, Pastor Desent worked closely with Dr. D. M. Fraser, leading the Bearing Precious Seed scripture production work and the School of the Scriptures at Baptist Tabernacle in Shreveport, LA, under the leadership of Dr. J. G. Tharpe. In 1991, Pastor Desent was sent to Rhode Island, where he founded Historic Baptist Church. At HBC Pastor Desent oversaw the Bearing Precious Seed scripture production and Rhode Island Baptist Seminary.

In 1996 we first proved our Bearing Precious Seed (BPS) work in Honduras using the “McDonalds Method,” which is teaching small indigenous churches to publish scriptures for themselves in country.  Our experiment in Honduras proved successful under our missionary Robert Baker when he took a small printing press and an electric generator and published John/Romans in the mountains of Honduras where there was no electricity.  He did this work in three different locations in Honduras.

Since 2016 we have made great strides in the scripture publishing in Peru.  We have printed tons of scriptures (John’s, J/R’s, New Testaments) through various churches.  We have also published and distributed scriptures in Bolivia.

Iglesia Bautista El Lindero Antiguo (IBELA) has printed J/R’s, and New Testament in Spanish and will continue to do so by God’s grace.  We also print tracts for churches.  We recently printed New Testaments in the Awajun language.  I believe this is the first time our brethren in the Amazon jungle will be getting New Testaments in their language that are printed by independent Baptists.
